During a qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup where Peru lost to Argentina 2-0 Orlando City’s goalkeeper Pedro Gallese had a terrible reaction with a fan who jumped on the field looking to get a selfie with Lionel Messi.
Piero Alexander Oyola Arteaga, a young Peruvian fan invaded the field to get a selfie with Messi, however, security personnel acted accordingly and prevented the fan from approaching the World Cup Champion, however, Gallese got caught in the heat of the moment and assaulted the 17-year-old, taking his cell phone and throwing it furiously to another part of the field.

The embarrassing moment was captured from different perspectives in the stands and, as expected, it went viral, and Gallese’s action was almost unanimously condemned.
After the incident, the boy made a video and posted it on Instagram throwing serious jabs at Gallese “I don’t understand why they say I’m a sellout if I cheered for 90 minutes for Peru. However, At Messi’s first goal, I got a little excited because it was the first time I’d seen him. They say I’m an old man, but I’m 17 years old, and I’m a minor. So, I can easily turn you in, Gallese.
Oyola also mentioned that Gallese’s job is not to be a security guard but to stop goals “I couldn’t do anything because Gallese got in my way as a guard. I mean, it’s not your job, crazy man, your job is just to save and they scored two goals against you“.
So far Gallese has made no comment.
